from Sioux County Herald, July 8, 1880:
From Settler. Farmers, Iowa, June 25th, 1880.
Mr. Harmon - Dear Sir: It is with regret that I chronicle the death of Mr. S. A. Crandall, aged 78 years, who was one of our most esteemed and worthy citizens. Consumption was the supposed cause of his death. He was one of the first settlers in the county, having come here eleven years ago. The funeral took place today, attended by a large consourse of friends.
