Floyd I. Hatch, 68, of Evergreen, passed away Friday, August 26, 2016 at home with his loving wife by his side, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born November 20, 1947, on Hatch Hill, he is the son of the late Ivan and Amelia (Keeney) Hatch. He was a graduate of the Wyalusing Valley Area High School, Class of 1967. Floyd at a very young age was drawn to farm life. He spent countless hours on the Lester Slocum farm growing up and eventually working there.
In 1973, he married Carol Pisaneschi and in May they celebrated their 43rd anniversary. He then started hauling fuel oil full time, working for Browning Oil, Martin Oil, and finally Welles Mill, totaling 42 years of dedicated service to his employers and his customers. He loved his work and only left because of his illness. In addition to that he worked for many years, mornings and evenings milking at the dairy of Harry and Mary Epler in Evergreen.
At home he had a beef cow/calf operation working hard and taking great pride in being a breeder of top-notch feeder cattle. Many of his steers went to 4-H’ers, with one being named “Grand Champion Market Steer”, and another steer named “Reserved” at the Tioga County Fair, Owego, NY.
He was proud of his children’s accomplishments with their horses in 4-H, High School Rodeo, and Open Horse Shows. He always supported their efforts with the horses, as well as that of his wife’s’. Never a rider himself, he always helped in the care of her passion, horses. He loved his family and especially precious time with his grandchildren. He enjoyed country music, farm auctions, county fairs, boxing and U.F.C. on television, hunting, and fishing.
Surviving in addition to his wife are one daughter, Stacy L. (Bryan) Charles of Muncy; a son, Reese E. (Catie) Hatch of Elmira, NY; two grandchildren, Alycia Grace Hatch and Lucas Floyd Hatch; a sister, C. Linda Abrams of New Albany; a brother, M. Dale Hatch of New Albany; three nieces; a nephew; and his loving and loyal dog Tyra.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Baby Charles.
Private graveside services will be at a later date at Evergreen Cemetery. Floyd’s family will celebrate his life at a later date to be announced.
