Frank Albert Baillie, Jr., a 43 year resident of Port Orchard, Washington passed away on March 14, 2016.
Frank was born on 1 June 1928, in Taunton, Massachusetts to Frank Albert, Sr. and Ethelyn Marian (Bailey) Baillie.
Frank enlisted in the United States Navy in about 1949, and served for 23 years as a Navy Weatherman. He served at many Naval Bases both abroad and stateside, as follows: Naval Base Guam; United States Marine Air Station in Tsingtao, China; Naval Base Yokosuka, Japan; Naval Air Station Keflavik, Iceland; and Naval Air Station Rota, Spain; Naval Air Station Lakehurst, New Jersey; Naval Air Station North Island, San Diego, California; Naval Air Station Whiting Field, Pensacola, Florida; Naval Air Station Brunswick, Maine. He also served on some sea duty commands,included two tours each aboard the amphibious command ships, USS Estes (AGC-12) and USS Eldorado (AGC-11) ; Ocean station vessel PCE-885 and USS Wright (CC-2). While stationed aboard the USS Estes in November 1952, he took part in "Operation Ivy," the first hydrogen bomb test at Eniwetok Atoll in the Marshall Islands of the South Pacific. Frank retired in September of 1976 as a LT.
On 3 March 1951, he married Shirley Josephine Lundy in San Diego, California. Their marriage lasted until the death of Shirley in 1985.
Following Frank's retirement from the Navy, he worked at the Federal Reserve Bank, Seattle, Washington, retiring in 1983.
He is survived by his sons, Bruce and Mark, daughter Jennie, 7 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
