NORFOLK - Mardell Sires, 86, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 30, 2006. Born in Ensley, Alabama, she was the daughter of the late Jessie House Bethea and James L. Bethea, and the widow of Frank M. Sires, Sr. Mrs. Sires was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church and their Dorcus Bible Class, a charter member of the Princess Anne Park Garden Club, and a member of the Federation of Norfolk Garden Clubs. She was also a U. S. Army veteran of World War II, having served in the W.A.C. Left to cherish her memory is her son, John T. Sires and his wife, Toni of Norfolk; two granddaughters, Anne and Erica Sires of Norfolk. She was preceded in death by her son, Frank M. Sires, Jr. Her family would like to thank the doctors and staff at Harbour Pointe Convalescent Center for their love and care of Mrs. Sires. A graveside funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Wed., Dec. 6, 2006 in Forest Lawn Cemetery by Rev. Fred Braswell and Rev. Dick Baker. Cox Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
