Earl was born to Roy R. and Nena (Scott) Abell. He moved from Lorenzo to Ralls in 1936 and was a 1939 graduate of Ralls High School. On July 1, 1944 he married Neva Cypert in Ralls, Texas. He was a member of the Ralls First United Methodist Church where he served on several committees. Earl was a farmer and co-owner and operator of Abell-Prewitt Implement in Ralls from 1950 to 1984. He was a charter member of the Ralls Lions Club and member of the Ralls Jaycees, the Ralls City Council, and the Emma Masonic Lodge #931 where he was a 32nd degree mason. He was an avid golfer and fisherman. He served his country in the Army during World War II. Survivors include his wife, Neva, of Ralls; two daughters, Pam Taylor and her companion Jim McDuff of Ralls and Dixie and her husband Ken Welch of Baird; seven grandchildren, Shane Martin, Darcy Martin, Tara Taylor Pierce, Alexa Taylor, Amy Welch King and her husband Josh, Kelly Welch and Katy Welch; and three great-grandchildren, Brooklyn Pierce, Ian Martin and Hannah King.
