Lady Charlotte Monkton Tennant Lister was born on February 10, 1858 at her parents mansion in Peebles, Peebleshire, Scotland, as the second child of Sir Charles Tennant, 1st Baronet (1823-1906) and Emma Winsloe (1849-1895). The Hon. Charlotte Tennant married Thomas Lister, 4th Baron Ribblesdale (1854-1925) on April 7, 1877 at Savoy Chapel in London. They had five children:Captain the Hon. Thomas Lister, who was killed in action during the Somaliland campaign of 1903 and 1904, the Hon. Charles Alfred Lister who was killed in action during the Battle of Gallipoli during WW1, the Hon. Barbara Lister, the Hon. Laura Lister, and the Hon. Diana Lister. Lady Charlotte Ribblesdale died on May 2, 1911 at her townhouse in Marylebone, London at the age of fifty-three.
