Mary Elizabeth Troilo Acker, 86, of Pottsville, passed away Monday at Schuylkill Center, Pottsville.
Born April 10, 1930, in Pottsville, she was a daughter of the late Louis and Mary LaScala Troilo.
Mary was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church and was a longtime member of the former St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary and spent many years working the famous spaghetti suppers at St. Joseph's and St. Patrick's.
Liz, as many knew her, was always the first to donate her baking goodies for bake sales and events. She made many friends happy with her homemade Christmas and Easter cookies.
She was a graduate of Pottsville High School, Class of 1948, an active member of the reunion committee, and an avid football fan, following Pottsville, Penn State, the Eagles and the Steelers.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Glendon Acker; brother, Dominic Troilo; two sisters, Lois Gargano and Louise Alati.

She is survived by a son, Lawrence Acker, husband of Debra; daughter, Lou Ann, wife of Kevin Flaherty; grandson, Jeremy Acker, husband of Connie; great-granddaughter, Gianna Acker; sister, Christine Rutecky. She loved remembering all of her nieces and nephews on their birthdays and at holiday time.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday at St. Patrick Church, Pottsville, with Monsignor Edward O'Connor as celebrant. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects from 9 to 11 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven. Mary Elizabeth loved flowers, but if you choose to donate in her name, please consider donating to the American Cancer Society , American Heart Association or the Schuylkill County Autism Society.
