Robert Lee AdlerRobert (Bob), age 89, passed away on his birthday, August 5, 2016, in Coeur d' Alene, Idaho where he lived with his daughter and son-in-law.
He was born August 5, 1927 in Morrison, Oklahoma. At the age of 17, Robert volunteered for active service and joined the United States Navy on July 13, 1945. After completing boot camp training in September, he was assigned to the Attack Transport U.S.S. Drew 162. Their orders were to return Army and Marine occupation troops to the mainland. Robert was honorably discharged from the Navy August 12,1946.
Upon returning to Oklahoma, Robert married the love of his life, Earlene Fern Henderson on November 1, 1947.
He began his career in power generation in Stillwater, Oklahoma. In 1953, he and Earlene moved to Anadarko, Oklahoma to work for Western Farmers Electric Co-operative. Robert remained an employee with Western Farmers until he retired in 1987 as Chief of Generation. Earlene and Robert then moved to Caldwell, Idaho where the majority of the Adler family resided.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Delila Adler, his wife, Earlene Adler, his brother Lonny Adler and his great grandson Gabriel Scherdin.
He is survived by his children Deborah Lynn (Adler) Volz and spouse LeRoy Allen Volz, his son Stephen Gregg Adler and spouse Paula Susan (Gragert) Adler, five grandchildren and four great grandchildren, four brothers, Edward Adler, Harold Adler, Jim Adler, Terry Adler and his sister Betty Jane (Adler) Tollman.
Services will be held on Friday, August 12, at 2 pm, at Dakan Funeral Home in Caldwell, Idaho. Viewing will be Thursday evening from 6 pm to 8 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of North Idaho
