He was converted, baptized and united with the Oak Grove General Baptist Church while he was a young man. God called him to preach the gospel and he was ordained to the full work of the gospel in 1912.
He lived his entire life in Taney Co., Mo. He was known as a hard working, honest man, both in his Lord's work and helping his neighbors. He lived faithful to Jesus, spreading the gospel far and near and going to church as long as he was able.
He is survived by his wife, Maggie of the home, two sons, Chestley of Branson, Mo. and Sammy of Sacramento, Calif., two granddaughters, three step-sons, one brother Frank and one sister, Phoebe Siler, besides a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted in the Whelchel Chapel, Jan. 20, 1968 by Rev. Almeda Brittain. He was laid to rest in the Snapp Cemetery near old Forsyth, Mo., under the direction of the Whelchel Funeral Home of Branson, Mo.
