Fort Archer Laid to Rest Saturday
Died: 09-28-1961

Funeral services for Fort Archer, 66 year old resident of Cottonwood who died in a Vernon hospital Thursday, were held from the Cottonwood Methodist Church Saturday afternoon at three o'clock with Rev C. R. Myrick, Baptist minister officiating.
Burial was in the family plot under the direction of Higginbotham Funeral Home of Cross Plains.
Mr. Archer was a retired farmer.
He was born in Cottonwood on April 3, 1895 and lived in this community until about 4 years ago when he moved to Odell, 21 miles north of Vernon.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Bunt Joy of Big Springs and a son James Archer of California; three brothers, Earl of Cottonwood, Jim of Flordia, and Loy of Phillips; three sisters, Mrs. JP Clifton of Cottonwood, Mrs. Melvin Hargrove of Abilene, and Mrs. Ima Ward of California; four grandchildren and a number of other relatives.
Pallbearers at the funeral services were Willie, Harvey, and Gilbert Wilcoxen, Bud Strahan, Norman Coffee, and CB Childers.
