She was born Nov. 9, 1932 on a farm west of Elgin to Irvin and Pearl Tuttle Dagget Alderson. She was married on Oct. 7, 1948 to Lester L. Strong at Madison. She was survived by her husband, 2 sons, 5 daughters, 14 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, 1 brother Billy. NORFOLK — Services for Violet E. Strong, 78, of Norfolk will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Earl Reed officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday at Howser-Fillmer Mortuary.
She died Monday, Nov. 29, 2010, at Faith Regional Health Services.

Violet Elaine Strong was born Nov. 9, 1932, on a farm west of Elgin to Irvin and Pearl Tuttle Dagget Alderson. She attended schools at Bartlett, Ericson and rural schools at Palmer and Clearwater before completing her education in Ewing.
She was united in marriage to Lester L. Strong in Madison on Oct. 7, 1948. The couple made their home at O'Neill. In 1954, they moved to Norfolk, where they raised their family of eight children.
Violet worked at Prenger's restaurant from 1963 to 1971. In 1971, she became employed at Sherwood Medical, where she spent 23 and one-half years, retiring in 1995.
She enjoyed camping and traveling, but most of all she loved her family, and most every holiday was spent at grandma and grandpa's house.
Violet is survived by her loving husband, Lester; two sons, Brad (Lori) of Norfolk, Steve (Jody) of Norfolk; and five daughters, Carolyn Small of Sioux City, Iowa, Kathryn Strong (Harry Mason) of Alameda, Calif., Cindy (Stan) Christensen of Norfolk, Joy (Steve) Hobbs of Slana, Alaska, and Cheryl Strong of San Mateo, Calif.; 14 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; a brother, Billy (Beverly) Alderson of Elgin.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her eldest son, Alan Strong; and her great-granddaughter, Lyndan Grace Schlomer.
