DICKSON —At Invercargill, on Sunday, December 20, 1931, Ernest James Dickson, No. 29748, 18th Reinforcements, N.Z.E.F., beloved husband of Janet Ferguson Dickson, of Aparima; aged 39 years. The funeral will leave his late residence, Aparima, on Friday, 25th inst., at 2 p.m., for the Otautau (new) Cemetery. Friends please accept this (the only) intimation.—J. Fraser & Co., Undertakers.

OBITUARY
Southland Times, Issue 21591, 31 December 1931, Page 9

The recent deaths of the Dickson brothers has cast quite a gloom over the Western District. They were the sons of the late Mr and Mrs John Dickson, Scott's Gap, and with the exception of a term of service at the Great War, have lived in the district practically all their lives. The deceased were, highly respected and were always in the forefront in anything that was for the advancement of the district. Ernest took a great interest in cricket, while John's hobbies were fishing and cricket. Both were accorded military funerals, the coffins being draped with the Union Jack, while a number of their, soldier comrades acted as pallbearers. Ernest was interred in the Otautau Cemetery on Christmas Day, when the Rev. Mr Campbell (Nightcaps) performed the last rites. John was laid to rest in the same cemetery on Monday, when the Rev. W. H. Howes officiated, assisted by the W.M. and members of the Masonic Lodge, of which deceased was a member.
