Our beloved mother and grandmother, Lois Irene Kruetzfeldt Mangelsen, passed away peacefully on August 26, 2016 surrounded by her family.

She was born to William John and Ida Helena Sellentine Kruetzfeldt in Norfolk, Nebraska on October 24, 1929.

Moved to Grand Island, Nebraska in 1947. In high school is where she discovered her talent and love for music. She sang in many choirs, including Sweet Adeline's and with the Christ United Methodist Church Choir until 2013. If not singing, you could often find her whistling.

Married Elmer George Mangelsen on April 3, 1955. Elmer saw her in passing and exclaimed to his friends "that's the girl I'm going to marry." They moved to Salt Lake City in 1956, where she worked for the telephone company as a switchboard supervisor.

When Lois became a mother, she started her new career as a stay at home mom. Lois shared her love of culture and the arts by taking her children and then grandchildren to see and experience many cultural and educational things.

Lois was very active even into her later years. She loved going to the Mount Olympus Senior Center, where she discovered a talent for painting.

She always had a smile on her face and a song and prayer in her heart and never had a bad thing to say about anyone. She was cherished and loved by her many friends and family. She will be greatly missed.

Lois is survived by her children, Michael Mangelsen (Dawn), Elise Pettegrew (David), and RaeLynn Smith (Adam); grandchildren, Spencer (Jamie), Tyson (Mallory), Joshua, Chelsea, Jacob, and Jasmine; and three great-grandchildren, Graham, Avery, and Hadley.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 9, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. in the Christ United Methodist Church, 2375 East 3300 South. Friends and family are invited to visit on Thursday, September 8, 2016 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East, and prior to the services at the church on Friday from 11:45 a.m. - 12:45 p.m.
Interment will be in the Mount Olivet Cemetery.
