Helen A. Caskey, 84, Duluth, died Dec. 4, 2006 at St. Lukes Hospice. She was born in Duluth on Nov. 5, l922 to Louis and Mary (Glapa) Surman. Helen was a 1941 graduate of Denfeld High School and the Young & Hursh Business College. She had worked in the credit department of Marshall Wells and as a receptionist/bookkeeper for Dr. Ralph Eckman. She married Raymond Caskey on Feb. 16, 1952 in Duluth. She returned to work in 1964, as a clerk-typist for the U.S. Government, first for the Superior National Forest and then as an administrative officer of the Mine Safety and Health Administration, retiring in l984. Helen was a charter member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Raymond; sister, Wanda LaPatka; and brother, Chester Surman. Helen is survived by her sons, Daniel R., of Duluth, and Paul D. (Diane M.), Saginaw; brother, Stephen (Wanda) Surman, Cumberland, Wisc.; and many nieces and their families. VISITATION:10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. Mass Of Christian Burial Wednesday in St.Lawrence Catholic Church, Duluth. Burial at Polish Catholic Cemetery. Memorials preferred. Arrangements by Williams-Lobermeier Funeral Home.
