Mrs. Alexander was born in Taylorsville, MS on June 22, 1934, to Luther Edward Smith and Etha Mae Hatten Smith, she was later raised by Mr. and Mrs. William Berger. She was a graduate of Cleveland High School, and later pursued her degree as an RN graduating from Mississippi Delta Community College. On February 6, 1958, she married Wilson “Pete” Edward Alexander, Sr. in Cleveland, MS. Her passion was in nursing for over 35 years as an RN at many places such as Bolivar County Hospital, and she served as the infection control nurse at Delta Medical Center and Department of Corrections in Parchman. She was a member of Calvary Episcopal Church; loved her family and friends, playing bridge, spending time with her dog, and drinking coffee with friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Luther Edward Smith, Etha Mae Hatten Smith, and Mr. and Mrs. William Berger.
Mrs. Alexander is survived by her sons, William Alexander of Ruleville, MS, and Wilson Alexander, Jr. (Lisa) of Brandon, MS; grandson, Daniel Alexander (Jennifer) of Pontotoc, MS; great-grandchildren, Colleen Alexander and Cashton Alexander both of Pontotoc, MS; and siblings, Dorothy Weeks of Jackson, NJ, Barbara Turner of Bruce, MS, and Lewis Boyle of Coffeeville, MS.
