Chester probably was born in Toledo, Lucas OH, the son of Rev. William Elmer and Grace Louise (Brown) Loucks and the grandson of Rev. Peter Loucks of Westmoreland PA. In 1910 Chester was living with his parents in Minneapolis MN where his father was pastor of the Fourth Baptist Church. Chester was a student at Hamline University, St. Paul MN in 1918 when he registered for the draft. There is an indication that he attended or graduated from Denison University and Andover Newton Theological School. He held earned degrees as a Bachelor of Divinity and Bachelor of Philosophy. Chester was pastor of the First Baptist Church of St. Albans VT from 19 Sep 1926 to 7 Sep 1930. He had previously been at West Somerville MA Baptist Church and when he left St.Albans he went to a Baptist Church in Seattle WA. For the 1940 Census he was enumerated in Ann Arbor MI with Seattle WA given as his 1935 residence. He was pastor of First Baptist, Ann Arbor MI when he was honored in 1954 with a Doctor of Divinity degree from Kalamazoo College. He was an accomplished artist in retirement if not before.
