George Leroy Coble, 84, McAllen, Texas, and a former resident of Huntington, died at 10:30 a.m. Friday (Jan. 9, 1998) at Twinbrooke South Nursing Home, Mc Allen.

Mr. Coble retired as a conductor from the Erie-Lackawanna Railroad. He was also a retired Huntington County farmer. He was a member of McAllen Central Christian Church, McAllen, Amity Lodge No. 483, Huntington, Valley of Fort Wayne Scottish Rite and Fort Wayne Mispah Temple.

He was born Sept. 17, 1913 to Harvey Wilson and Annis Michale[sic - Mikel] Coble. His wife, Edna Coble, Survives.

Also surviving are three sons, Charles L. Coble, Elkhart, Joseph H. Coble, Huntington, and Monty L. Coble, Scottsdale, Ariz.; a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Charlene A.) Deresh, Phoenix; 12 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; three sisters, Mrs. Beatrice Ware, Huntington, Catharine Rice, Roanoke, and Margarite Mower, Alliance, Ohio; and a brother, Carroll Coble, Wabash. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Monet L. Beaty, six brothers and a sister.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Kreider Funeral Home, 314 N. 10th St., McAllen, Texas. Graveside services and burial will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Pilgrims Rest Cemetery, with Rev. Cameron Douglas officiating.
