W.B. Davenport was the son of Silas Wilson & Nancy Jane Nabors Davenport, and the husband of Maggie Wilson Davenport.

His obituary stated he died suddenly in front of the home of C.A. Taylor in Williamston, at 9 o'clock the morning of December 7, 1925. He had suffered two light strokes and had been ill for several years, but had been feeling better in the days just prior to his death. This sudden death came as a surprise to friends and family.

He was born and reared near Williamston and had lived in the town for many years. He had been a member of Big Creek Baptist Church for many years, and had recently moved his membership to the Second Baptist Church.

He was survived by his wife; a daughter, Miss Frances Davenport; eight sons, Berry, Edward, James, Albert, and Walter, all of Williamston, Frank of Key West, FL, Clarence of Shelby, NC, and Adger of Simpsonville; two sisters, Mrs. William Johnson and Mrs. Walter Walker, and a brother, Silas Davenport, all of the White Plains area.

His funeral was held at 3 o'clock in the afternoon of Wednesday, Deember 9, 1925, from Second Baptist Church.
