James Fredrick "Jim" Goins, 55, died at the Hospice House on Saturday, Sept. 3, 2016 after a courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services will be Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Peniel Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Monday (today) Sept. 5, 2016 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m .Mr. Goins was born in Georgetown, SC, the son of the late Fred, Sr. and Jacqueline Wall Goins. He was in the US Army. "Jim" worked with law enforcement in Timmonsville, later joining the Darlington County Office as an investigator, he retired from Lee County law Enforcement. Jim was a member of Benton Lodge No. 26 AFM and a member of the Fraternal Order of Police. Surviving are his wife Amanda Altman Goins, Darlington; two sons, Chris Goins and Eric Goins; brothers, Freddie (Samantha) Goins, Tracy Goins, Clyde Goins; sisters, Tammy Goins, Deborah (Earl) Russ, LaJean Tilton and his beloved canine companion "Abby". He is preceded in death by a brother, Russell Goins.
