84 years young, Betty was born on Feb. 17, 1927, in Waynoka, Okla., and passed away May 25, 2011, while on a church trip to Mackinaw Island, Mich.
Celebration of life services will be Thursday, June 2, 2011, at 11 a.m. in Temple Baptist Church, 33rd Avenue and Van Buren Street, with the Rev. Chad Mantooth officiating.
Betty was full of energy and always ready for adventure. You might find her riding a horse, driving a tractor, tending the ill, line dancing, quilting or fishing, and always with a smile on her face. She never met a stranger, and had a knack for making everyone feel special, and loved to laugh. She enjoyed a fulfilling career as an LVN and after retirement, was always on the go.
She was an active member of Temple Baptist Church, The JOY Club and the Naomi Sunday Sunday School Class. She belonged to The Wildrose Lodge, The Ozark County Quilters, enjoyed line dancing at The Big Texan and spent her summers fishing at The Tall Texan Campground in Gunnison, Colo.
Her mother, Cora Adeline Olson; father, Paul August Olsen; and her husband, Roy Anderson Dohoney, preceded Betty in death.
Survivors include sons, Royce Dohoney and Anita of Austin, Dan Dohoney and wife Jo Ann of Amarillo and Scott of Amarillo; three sisters, Nadine Hayes of Waynoka, Okla., Eleanor Davidson of Cassville, Mo.; brother, Max Olsen of Woodward, Okla.; and sister, Linda Fender of Yukon, Okla.; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Special thanks to the staff of North Michigan Regional Hospital, the staff of Hospice of Little Traverse Bay, and to Stone Funeral Home (especially Rick) and the Township of Petoskey, Mich.
The family suggests memorials be to The American Lung Association.
