Evelyn Lucille Taylor Briggs was born August 13, 1925 in Mt. Rainier, Maryland to Joshua Preston and Nellie Much Taylor. Evelyn grew up in Washington DC, graduating from Eastern High School in 1943. She soon began working for the federal government in support of the War effort. In 1945, she met and married Patrick Eubank Briggs, stationed at the Washington Navy Yard. After the war, the couple established their home in Carlsbad, New Mexico. Evelyn was employed at Spark’s Office Supply until birth of her first child. She spent the rest of her life as a mother, homemaker, than a grandmother.
Evelyn was preceded in death by Pat, her beloved husband of 55 years, her parents, brother Ralph Taylor and sister Dorothy Taylor Stuckwisch. She is survived by a sister Mildred V. Taylor of Rockville, Maryland, son Mike Briggs and wife Marcia, daughter Susan and husband Jerry Rogers, all of Pagosa Springs, Colorado, grandsons Chris Briggs of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Brian Rogers and wife Branley of Plano, Texas, Shawn Rogers and wife Stephanie, great-granddaughter Riley Ava Rogers all of Carrollton, Texas. Numerous nephews and nieces survive Evelyn.
