On 6 Mar 1906 at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Jacksonville, IA, Mary married John Andersen, the son of Peter Hansen Andersen & Kathrine Koch. The couple had 5 children: Evelyn, Sylvia, Doliver, LeRoy (1920-1924), and Harold, a stillborn son in 1906.
John & Mary owned a grocery store in Jacksonville. A fire in the chimney resulted in the store being burned down. John & Mary used the Danish Brotherhoood (dance) Hall to temporarily maintain their business while a new store was built by local carpenters. Once re-established, John sold the new store.
1921--John & Mary moved to Harlan, Shleby County, IA. John was on the Harlan City Council for 10 years.
2 Nov 1948-- John died in Harlan. Mary lived in their home for several years and then went to the Baptist Memorial Home in Harlan in about 1966. She died 26 Aug. 1971.
