Mr. Basil “Snookum” Bolton, age 77 of Centre passed away on Thursday September 8th at Gadsden Regional Hospital.

Funeral services will be3:PM Sunday, September 11th at Perry Funeral Home with Rev. Brett Clements officiating; burial will follow in Pine Grove cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 until 3:PM Sunday, at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be nephews.

Survivors include brothers, Gary (Nellie) Bolton of Hokes Bluff, Darwyn Bolton of Atlanta; several nieces & nephews.

He was preceded in death by brothers, L.J. and Lennie Mack Bolton; sister, Mary Beam; niece, Traci Bolton and nephew, Keith Bolton.

Mr. Bolton was a native of Cherokee County, the son of the late Luther Johnson and Leona Elrod Bolton and was an Air Force veteran. He was a retired pipe fitter with the Local 72 in Atlanta and 766 in Rome, GA. He worked at one time with the Army Corp of Engineers and also farmed. He was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church.
