Son of Joshua & Rhoda (Felt) Abbe.

Obituary, Springfield (MA) Republican, 22 Sep 1893:

SUICIDE AT ENFIELD, CT.
------
Henry Abbe, 2d, Hangs Himself.
The body of Henry Abbe, 2d, of Enfield, was found lying on the ground between his house and barn yesterday morning with a one-fourth-inch manilla [sic] rope tied securely about his neck. In the barn 14 feet above the floor was found a scafold [sic] to which was attached a piece of rope of corresponding size, and beside this rope was found the dead man's hat. Upon examination the neck was found to be unbroken and death was caused by strangulation. The body was found by the hired man as he came up to dinner and it was about 50 feet from where the rope parted. Mr Abbe had spent some time this summer at the retreat at Hartford, but being always harmless and only being troubled with nervousness, he thought he might stay at home. He was as usual at breakfast and seemed cheerful. He was the youngest son of Joshua Abbe, who for a number of years before his death was partly crazy. Mr Abbe was 60 years old and unmarried.
