George Haight was a gatekeeper at Jackson Prison. He was given a glass of lemonade by R Irving Latimer, an inmate famous for the brutal murder of his mother, and died within 20 minutes of drinking it. When captured, Latimer said he never intended for Guard Haight to die. He just needed him to be unconscious for about an hour while he made his escape.
