John William Quintrell 73, of St. Albans passed away September 12, 2016.

John was a 1961 graduate of Sissonville High School where he participated in track, weight lifting, and varsity club. The sport he excelled the most in was football. Following graduation of high school, John attended Glenville State College where he was a Football All-American from 1961-1962. John married Frances Lorraine Beane on September 14, 1963. In 1964, he began his career with Union Carbide Corp. as an operator. While employed by Carbide, John received a Bachelor’s Degree from Morris Harvey College on August 18, 1967 and after 43 years of faithful service, he retired in 2007. He and Frances attended Abney Street Church of God, St. Albans.

He was preceded in death by Dolly Quintrell Taylor, Rean Taylor and faithful campanion Holly.

John is survived by his loving wife Frances of 54 years and their children, Angie (Dale) Ball of St. Albans, Lori (Scott) Witt of Scott Depot, and Jason (Erin) Quintrell of Poca. In addition, John is survived by his grandchildren; Sophia Ball of St. Albans, Hanna Brown of Scott Depot, Caitlin Quintrell of Poca, Mckinzie Quintrell of Poca, Jason Quintrell Jr. of Poca and Judson Witt of Scott Depot.

Visitation will be held from 6-8pm Wednesday September 14, 2016 at Bartlett-Chapman Funeral Home, St. Albans and from 10:00am-11:00am Thursday September 15, 2016 at Abney Street Church of God, 617 Abney Street, St. Albans.

Funeral service will be at 11:00am Thursday at the church with the Rev. Jack A.C. Lawrence and the Rev. Jason Scott Quintrell officiating. Burial will follow in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans.
