CALVIN SNOOK

Calvin Snook, aged 59 years, died in the county infirmary at Dunlap at 2 o'clock this morning. His death was due to uremic poisoning.

The funeral services will be held at the undertaking of Ed Walley, 315 West Marion street, Monday forenoon, at an hour not yet determined.

Mr. Snook, who with his wife and daughter came here from Kalamazoo four years ago, was a soldier of the Spanish-American war, and I. H. Church, who was active in the affairs of the local post of Spanish War Veterans, recently took steps to secure his admittance to the state soldiers home. J. S. Dodge, some time ago acted as attorney Snook in a suit for damages growing out of injuries he received when his bicycle was struck by an automobile, had suggested his entering a soldiers' home but he said he thought he could get along without seeking such a haven. Township Trustee W. J. Sigerfoos, who took the veteran to the infirmary some two weeks ago, did not learn until yesterday that he had been a soldier, otherwise, the trustee said, he would have made an effort to get in a more attractive place than the infirmary. Snook and his family became township wards two years ago. Recently Mrs. Snook secured employment in South Bend, and when her husband followed her there intent on staying at the restaurant where she worked, it was arranged to bring them both back here. Trustee Sigerfoos was summoned to the Red Cross headquarters, to which they had been taken, and he there arranged to take Mr. Snook to the infirmary, while his wife returned to her work in South Bend. The daughter, was made a ward of the county last December, and placed in an orphanage.
