LEWISTON - Laurette Charest Poulin,99, of Lewiston, passed away peacefully at Montello Manor on Sunday morning, September 11, 2016, with her family by her side.

She was born July 17, 1917, in Saint Pascal P.Q., Canada, the daughter of Thomas and Amanda Charest, and moved to Lewiston Junction in Auburn with her family in 1923.

She was educated in Canadian and Lewiston-Auburn Schools.

Laurette married Arthur Poulin at Holy Family Church in Lewiston on September 21, 1940. They were married 54 years until his death on July 8, 1994, and they enjoyed many years at their South Harpswell summer home.

Laurette was employed at Bates Mill and shoe shops in Lewiston prior to raising her daughters. She was an excellent cook and liked to invent new recipes. She was also a wonderful seamstress, making many of her daughters' clothes.

Laurette was a member of Holy Family Church, Prince of Peace Parish in Lewiston. She was the longest serving member of the Ladies of Ste. Anne.

She is survived by her two daughters, Lorraine and her husband, Raymond Hamann, and Suzanne Poulin; two sisters, Yvette and her husband, Robert Elliott, and Rita LePage; two brothers, Rosier Charest and his wife, Claudette, Fernand Charest and his wife, Jacqueline; a sister-in-law, Carmen Charest; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband; five sisters, Liane Sarrasin, Jeanne Filion, Lucienne Charest, Marie Laure Roux and Louise Anne Busier; seven brothers, Leo, Lucien, Jean Leon, Gerard, Marcel, Adrien and Ernest Charest.

FUNERAL NOTICE
POULIN - Laurette, 99, died Sunday, September 11, 2016. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Wednesday, September 14, from 2-5pm. Services will be held Thursday, September 15, at 11am, Holy Family Church. Entombment, St. Peter's Cemetery. Donations may be made in her memory to a charity of your choice.
