Ruby Fern Lansdown, daughter of Andrew LaFayette and Francis Cleveland (Swafford) Seal was born July 12, 1927 in Attica, Kansas. She departed this life Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at the age of eighty-nine years, two months and one day.

Ruby accepted Christ as her Savior at an early age and loved to serve her Lord.

On September 9, 1946, Ruby was united in marriage to Homer Lansdown. They were blessed with eleven children. They shared forty-three years together until Homer’s passing on December 12, 1989.

Ruby was preceded in death by her husband, Homer; her parents; eleven brothers, Archie, Joe, Virgil, Delbert, Guy, Vernon, Hobert, Merlin, Gearl, Bobby and Norman Seal; three sisters, Kate Ogden, Bernice Freeman and Opal Kunze, her son, Tommy; granddaughter, Kayla Wooten; great-granddaughter, Mikaela Lansdown and great-grandson, Mason Smalley.

Ruby is survived by seven sons, Neal and wife, Arnelle, Danny and wife, DeLinda, Virgil and wife, Linda, Vernon and wife, Susan, Larry and wife, Kay, Kenny and wife, Melissa and Jimmy and wife, Karen; three daughters, Carolyn Johnson and husband, Richard, Norma Smalley and husband, Mark and Kathy Myers and husband, Andy; her daughter-in-law, April Lansdown; thirty grandchildren; fifty-one great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; her sister, Pearl Farris as well as numerous nieces, nephews and many friends.

Ruby moved with her family from Kansas to Mansfield, Missouri in 1936. She attended 3rd and part of her 4th grade years at Roy Rural School and Mountain Side School where Ms. Clara Lakey was her 4th grade teacher and Ms. Oma Jenkins taught 5th and 6th grade. During the winter of 1940 her family moved to a different farm, therefore the last part of 6th grade and all of 7th and 8th grades were at Hicks School. She attended Mansfield High School.

Ruby and Homer lived and raised their children in Mansfield. She began working at House Shoe Store in 1971 and worked there for 25 years.

Ruby delighted in time spent with her family, and enjoyed quilting, gardening, embroidering, gospel music and cooking for her family. She made hundreds of beautiful quilts, of which she lovingly gave. She is well-known for her delicious jellies and homemade pies.

Ruby was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt and a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and accomplishments and will forever cherish the wonderful memories she created for all of us.
