Dominec graduated from New Castle High School, Slippery Rock University and Westminster College. He taught elementry school. He served in the US Army during World War II. He was awarded a Good Conduct Ribbon, an American Theater Ribbon, an Asiatic Theater Ribbon and a World War II Victory Medal. He belonged to the Lawrence County Retired Teachers Association, PA Public Employees Retirement System, the National Teachers Association, AARP, and St. Camillus Church. He enjoyed organic gardening, reading books about WWII and fixing small appliances.

Relatives: two children, Robert D. Fusco and wife Jean and Cheryl Fusco Johnson and husband David; four grandchildren, Tim Fusco and wife Melanie, Christy Fusco, Joyce Fusco and Eric Johnson; a brother, Patsy Fusco; a sister, Virginia Book; a half-sister, Mary Orrico; a half-brother, Charles Richards; and infant grandson, Christopher Fusco.
