A. DuWayne Arnell was born on July 9, 1924 in St. Charles, Idaho to Alvirus and Orlena (Thornock) Arnell. He spent his childhood years in St. Charles and high school years in Grace, Idaho where he graduated in 1943. DuWayne enlisted in the US Navy on November 17, 1943, and was assigned to serve aboard the USS Herald of the Morning in the Asiatic Pacific Campaign. He was involved in the Pacific invasions of Saipan, Tinian, Tulagi, Guadalcanal, Anguar, Mindoro, Tarawa, Iwo Jima, and two campaigns in the Philippines. He was honorably discharged in May of 1946. He married Avon Rogers on November 7, 1946, in the Idaho Falls Temple. After retiring, Avon and DuWayne served in the Logan LDS Temple for (10) years. He was preceded in death by his wife Avon and his parents. He is survived by a son Mike (Shauna) Arnell of Boise, Idaho, and daughter Kathleen (Gary) Price of West Point, Utah, (8) grandchildren and (19) great-grandchildren. The family wishes to thank Dr. Nicole Caldwell, Dr. Clay Campbell, the staff and nurses at Bear Lake Memorial Hospital and the caregivers at the Bear Lake Manor for their professional and loving treatment and endless support for the past (21) months. Special thanks to Laran Burdick and Sandra Passey for their service and friendship over the years not only to DuWayne but to Avon as well. Their kindness will never be forgotten. Military and graveside services will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2016 at 11 am at the St. Charles Cemetery. Arrangements are made by Schwab-Matthews Mortuary.
