Everett Edwin Ensley, 97, of Wilder, died at September 12, 2016 at a Boise hospital of natural causes. Everett was born in Ainsworth, Nebraska to John L. & Clara L. (Keech) Ensley on July 9, 1919. He had one brother, William “Bill” Ensley, two sisters: Ruth Madine (Ensley) Mintun, Thelma Helen (Ensley) Langer. Everett married the love of his life Evelyn Pearl Shaner on Dec. 12, 1936. They were happily married 78 years until her passing on Feb. 12, 2015. Dad & Mom moved out to Idaho in 1941. They picked cotton in Colorado and worked in the orchards to get here with 25 cents in their pockets when they arrived. Dad worked as a carpenter most of his life and drove school bus in Wilder. Mom worked in onion sheds and hop fields and any odd jobs to feed their family. In 1943, they bought some ground and built a farm, and would work it till they both passed. Beginning in 1944, Everett would serve in the U.S. Army for a few years during WWII, and be honorable discharged in late 1945. He loved dinosaurs, gardening along with traveling. Everett loved his family and was very involved with their lives.
Everett is survived by three sons: Jerry (Margaret) Ensley, Dick (Vivian) Ensley and Bob (Mary Sue) Ensley, a daughter, Linda (Jerry) Collingham: 13 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, 40 great-great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn, his parents, his brother, and two sisters, two great-grandsons: Michael Everett Ensley, Brandon Curtis Morton. The family would like to Thank Denise for your loving care of our dad.
Viewing will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2016 from 9:30 to 11:00 AM. Everett’s funeral service will be at 11:00 AM. at Flahiff Funeral Chapel, Caldwell. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Wilder Cemetery, Wilder Idaho. A dinner will be prepared following the services at the Homedale Senior Center. In Lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Wilder or Homedale Seniors Centers.
