Mary Helen Reynolds, 91, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 14, 2016. She had recently moved from Arlington to Dallas to be closer to her daughter. Graveside service: 1 p.m. Saturday in Moore Memorial Gardens. Visitation: from 12:30 to 1 p.m. at Moore Funeral Home. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Arlington Cancer Center or Community Partners of Dallas. Mary Helen was born on Sept. 9, 1925, in Austin. She was a graduate of Sunset High School in Dallas, and briefly attended The University of Texas at Austin, where she became a lifetime Longhorn fan. Mary Helen had a beautiful soprano voice and sang for many years in the church choir when she was younger. She was a lifelong draftsman, first working for her brother, John R. Ball Jr., then, Gordon S. Swift Consulting Engineer, Inc. Mary Helen ended her drafting career with the City of Fort Worth, from which she retired. She was very proud of being a stage four breast cancer survivor, and after her recovery she became a volunteer at Arlington Cancer Center for 20 years. Mary Helen enjoyed working in her flower garden, knitting and crewel work and was an avid reader. She was preceded in death by her parents, John R. Ball Sr. and Alberta Alice Parrigin Ball; brother, John R. Ball Jr.; and nephews, Richard D. Ball and David R. Ball. Survivors: Daughters, Cynthia McLeod (Don), of Union, Miss. and Diane Landesberg (Jeffrey), of Dallas; sister, Sarah Catherine Borgstedt of Arlington; sister-in-law, Beverly Ball of Grapevine; nieces, Carol Kross (John) of Arlington, Sarah Shelton (Mark) of Fort Worth and Judy Prather (Harold) of Burleson; and many great nieces and nephews.
