Duane E. Addis, 68, of Steinbarger Lake, Wawaka died Friday, September 16, 2016 at 8:50 a.m. in his residence.

He had lived on Steinbarger Lake since 2005 coming from Huntertown.

Mr. Addis honorably served in the U.S. Air Force from 1967 - 1971, during the Vietnam War, where he came in contact with agent orange.

Duane retired after 30 years with Flint & Walling in Kendallville.

He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 2749 in Kendallville.

He was born November 8, 1947 in Kendallville, to Leonard and Mildred (Harland) Addis.

On December 1, 1995 in Angola he married Christine Pion, she survives in Wawaka.

Also surviving are his children, Robin (Jeff) Scare and Lori (Tadd) Meyer both of Columbia City, Scott (Melanie) Addis of Bossier, Louisiana, Ken Brady of Churubusco, Tim (fiancé, Bev Tipton) Brady of Defiance, Ohio, Zach (Kalie Amber) Stanley of Fort Wayne and Ginny Stanley of Fort Wayne; eight grandchildren; and a brother, Roger Addis of Churubusco.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Linda Taylor.

Funeral services will be Thursday, September 22, 2016 at 5 p.m. in Independent Full Gospel Church, 1000 S. Gonser Ave, Ashley with Pastor Sam Weimer and Pastor Mark Marquart officiating.

Burial will be in Merriam Christian Chapel Cemetery, Merriam, at a later date.

Visitation will be Thursday, September 22, 2016 from 2 to 5 p.m. in the church.

Preferred memorials are to the American Red Cross or to Independent Full Gospel Church.
