Don passed away at home under hospice care do to complications of a MRSA infection. His wife Laurie was by his side the whole way. Don was preceded by his parents Philip L. Sylva and Isabell Matranga, a brother Philip Lane, and his daughter Melissa Michelle Sylva. Don leaves behind two sisters Marilyn France Catrantzos, Karen Kay Lemos, two sons James Michael, Donald Philip, and His companion and wife of 23 years Laurie Ann Hickey Sylva. Don wished to be cremated and that his wife keep his ashes with her and to have their ashes scattered together when she passes away so they can remain together for ever.
