CLIFTON SPRINGS - John J. Galens, 31, died at his home on Warfield Rd., Clifton Springs early today. A certificate of death due to suicide by hanging was issued by Coroner Morian Orlay of Geneva.

Mr. Galens was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of St. Felix Church.

He is survived by his wife, Caroline Branch Galens; a son, Ronald; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Galens Sr., all of Clifton Springs; his paternal grandmother, Mrs. Edward Galens of Newark; six brothers, Leon, Robert, Charles, William and Francis of Clifton Springs and Lewis of Macedon; five sisters, Mrs. Frank DeWilde, Mrs. Neil Swartele, Mrs. Leon Krolak and Miss Rosalie Galens, all of Clifton Springs; and Mrs. Walter Gardner of Macedon.

Friends may call Tuesday and Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Weld Funeral Home where the Rosary will be recited Wednesday at 8 p.m., Prayer service will be held Thursday at 9:30 a.m. , followed by mass in St. Felix Church at 10 a.m., The Rev. Francis Turner, pastor, officiating.

Internment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery, Clifton Springs.
