Canton – E. Lavonne Vaughn was born at home on April 11, 1929, in Western Rural Canton to Charles and Violet (Spangler) Fulton. They preceded her in death.
She led a blessed life and was surrounded by her husband of almost 70 years, all three of her children, and all six of her grandchildren when God called her home on Saturday, September 17, 2016.
She married Dale Vaughn on February 22, 1947, at the Shield’s Chapel Parsonage. He survives. Also surviving are her children, Larry (Ruth) Vaughn, Debra (David) Cape, and Karen (Kenny) VanHouten; and sister, Maxine Goyen, all of Canton.
Also surviving are six grandchildren, Michele (Scotty) Blanchard of Louisiana, Jennifer (Glen) Williams of Cuba, Christopher Vaughn, Kenny (Cortney) VanHouten, Keeli (Kyle) Lindmark, and Kayla (Chad) Buchen, all of Canton; and eleven great-grandchildren, Bryce, Zane, Maddex, Vaughn, Whitney, Addyson, Kash, Corinne, Kallen, Kasen, and Eva.
She was also preceded in death by her grandson, Eric Cape; and her two brothers, Leslie and Gordon Fulton.
Lavonne went to grade school in Monterey and graduated from Canton High School in 1946. She was always a hard worker, both in her personal life and her church life. She babysat and worked in a dairy during high school and helped farm with her husband up until her death. She was an active and faithful member of Shield’s Chapel Church and the United Methodist Women, where serving the shut-ins had a special place in her heart.
She loved gardening, visiting with friends, and lunch with the girls, but her true love was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton, where visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 5-7 p.m. Burial will be at Shield’s Chapel Cemetery.
