When her husband deserted her, Sallie moved to the city of Havana. There, she lived with her widowed daughter Lilley 'Emmaline' [Blackburn] Williams George in Emmaline's home on Railroad Avenue. When Sallie died on December 22, 1910, she was laid to rest in the Havana City Cemetery in Yell County under the name Sallie Massie.
