Obituary:

Thomas James Bonney, age 62, of Red Cliff, died Wednesday, January 11, 2006 at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Duluth, Minn. He was born January 6, 1944 in Bayfield, the son of Elber and Clarcie (Provorse) Bonney.

He served in the U. S. Navy for four years and worked as a forester for Bayfield County for 33 years before retiring in 2001. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, music, watching movies and cooking.

Thomas is survived by his beloved wife of 28 years, Betty Gary Bonney of Red Cliff; his beloved 17-year-old son, Derek Bonney of Red Cliff; four siblings: Mike (Sharon) Bonney of Bayfield, Tim (Pat) Bonney of Red Cliff, Judy Bonney of Bayfield, and Penny (Mark) Kuester of Ino; a son, James Bonney; a daughter, Shelly Bonney; grandchildren, nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews; special friends, Walter “Sonny” Sherman of Red Cliff and Jim Shelley of Cloquet, Minn.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Catherine Bonney.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 14 at Bratley Funeral Home in Washburn. Deacon Roger Cadotte will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the memorial service on Saturday. A luncheon will follow the memorial service at the Red Cliff Elderly Center in Red Cliff.
