A native of Spartanburg County; daughter of George Washington Johnson (1871–1942) and Massie Stribling Johnson (1871–1958); widow of DeWitt Moore (1887–1964); and first married to the late Ralph Hewetson Baer (1882–1946).

A housewife and member of Emma Gray Methodist Church in Woodruff.

Survivors include stepsons, Ralph Hewetson Baer, Jr. (1909–1995) and Clarence Linden Hutchins Baer (1911–2007); brothers, Carl Leonard Johnson (1898–1980), Fred Washington Johnson (1904-1988), and Dan Miles Johnson (1913–1987); sisters, Arabelle Johnson Tuck (1900-1989), Georgia Johnson Bonham (1905–2002), and Nannie Coy Johnson Myers (1909–1994).

Also predeceased by siblings, Alice Henrietta Johnson Contax (1892–1955), Frank Thomas Johnson (1896–1972), Helen Ruth Johnson Ezell (1901–1971), and Joe Hill Johnson (1907–1966).

Services were held at 3:00 pm, Tuesday, March 21, 1972, at Floyd's North Church Street Chapel by Rev. Robert Strother; burial in Greenhaven Gardens.
