Maynard was the son of Roy and Mabel (Hiatt) Collins. He moved to Pittsburg County as a young child. He later graduated from McAlester High School in 1934. He married Bonnie Southern on Aug. 17, 1937, in Caddo. He and his wife owned and operated a dairy in Krebs until 1960, then he worked for Collins & Flood Architect and Engineering until his retirement in 1974. He continued ranching after retirement and enjoyed tending to his livestock. He was an avid reader, particularly in American history, and appreciated the time he was able to spend with his family and friends. He died at his home in Krebs at the age of 91. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Phyllis Collins, of Krebs; a sister-in-law, Ruth Southern, of McAlester; a brother-in-law, Sam Southern and wife, Artie, of Oregon. Also, three grandsons, Wayne R. Collins II, Houston, Joshua Collins, Pensacola, Fla., and Mike Calvert and wife, Kathy, Ontario, Canada; two granddaughters, Jennifer Collins Moseley and husband, Robby, Houston, and Donna Mast and husband, Joe, Ontario, Canada. And, five great-grandchildren, Megan and Eric Calvert, Makayla and Melissa Mast and Trent Mayne Moseley, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Mabel Collins; his wife, Bonnie Collins on Dec. 17, 2001, and two brothers, Rex Collins and Virgil Collins. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Bishop Chapel of Memories with Dr. Thomas Murray officiating. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery under the direction of Bishop Funeral Service of McAlester. Pallbearers will be Lewis Nobles, Richard Fry, Robby Moseley, Wayne Roy Collins II, Joshua Collins and Mike Calvert.
