May Hannah Benjamin was the daughter of Welsh immigrants. She was the first of their three children born in the USA (in Wyandotte MI). May lived with her parents and then with her brother Tom on Cherry St in Wyandotte MI until she died. She never married. When she graduated from Wyandotte HS in 1901 she was runner-up for a scholarship to Olivet College. At one time, May attended university for a while but was homesick and never completed her degree. She worked as a bookkeeper for several years for her two oldest brothers.

She is buried in Ferndale Cemetery with her parents, sister Elizabeth, and brothers Tom and William.

MAY BENJAMIN
Life member of the Order of Eastern Star Wyandotte Chapter 370, May Benjamin, 79, of 355 Cherry, Wyandotte, passed away April 5 in Wyandotte General Hospital.

She was buried in Ferndale Cemetery Monday following services in St. Stephens Episcopal Church, Wyandotte. Thon Funderal Home was in charge of arrangements.

She leaves brothers, Watkin D and Thomas E. Benjamin.
