A crack pianist and composer, Frank Carlson worked his way through seminary school by playing piano in honky-tonks. Family lore is that he and sister Viv, a talented violinist, beat Lawrence Welk's ensemble in a music competition. Frank's calling lead him to Hawaii where he joined with the Door of Faith Church and tended to those living on Molokai in the 1960s. He married Merle Lemke late in 1970. She was the organist of the church. He was a charming fellow and devoted to his church.
