Adeline E. "Guckie" Bauer, 91, of 600 E. Elm St. in Abbotsford, died at 2:45 a.m. Sept. 27, 2000, at Continental Manor in Abbotsford where she had resided since July 20, 1998.
Committal services will be held at 10 a.m. today at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Marshfield. The Rev. James J. Logan, pastor of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, will officiate. Rembs/Kundinger Chapel is assisting the family with the arrangements.
She was born Feb. 16, 1909, in Marshfield to Henry and Amanda (nee Steffen) Oestreich. She married George H. Bauer Sr. on Nov. 26, 1928, in Waukegan, Ill.
After their marriage, the Bauers farmed in the Stratford area until moving to Marshfield. Adeline had been employed at Weinbrenner Shoe Company in Marshfield until her retirement. She was also a domestic housekeeper. She enjoyed gardening, knitting, crocheting, her cabin in northern Wisconsin, fishing and her beautiful flower beds. Adeline also did a lot of cooking, baking and canning. Most of all she enjoyed her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She had resided in Marshfield until moving to Abbotsford to reside with her granddaughter and caregiver, Carol Jean Weidman, and her family.
Adeline was a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Marshfield.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Esther R. Bauer of Spencer; nine grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren; and her sister, May Phipps of Opelika, Ala.
She was predeceased by her husband, George Sr. on Nov. 29, 1981; her son, George J. Bauer Jr. on Feb. 21, 1998; four sisters and one brother; one grandson-in-law, William D. Klun; one grandson, Gerald J. Bauer; and one great-great-granddaughter, Samantha Tyznik.
Memorials may be designated in her name to Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Marshfield or to St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Abbotsford.
