David Talbert Matteson, age 75, passed away Wednesday, September 21, 2016.
He was the son of the late Erling and Violet (nee Peterson) Matteson.
David graduated from Newark High School. On July 21, 1962, he married Billie Jean Jensen.
He was an operating engineer through Local 150 for 55 years. He was a member of Cross Lutheran Church in Yorkville. He enjoyed auto racing, hunting, collecting antique toys/tools, spending winters in Arizona but mostly enjoyed spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years; sons, Michael (Shannon) Matteson of Marseilles and Craig (Kay) Matteson of Morris; daughter, Cheri Matteson of Ottawa; three grandsons, Luke, Peter and Andrew Matteson all of Marseilles; his mother-in-law, Willo Jensen of Morris; two brothers, Ken (Ruby) Matteson of Morris and Greg (Cheryl) Matteson of Ottawa.
Visitation: Friday, September 23, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the church and on Saturday, September 24, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
Funeral service: Saturday, September 24, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Cross Lutheran Church, Yorkville, with Rev. Matt Conrad officiating.
Interment: Stavanger Lutheran Cemetery.
