TEE MAMOU-It is with heavy hearts that the Fruge family announces the passing of Daniel ''D.I.'' Fruge, beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 in the comfort of his home surrounded by his loving family. He was 74. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated 11:00 am on Saturday, September 24, 2016 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Evangeline.

Rite of Committal will follow in the Reed Cemetery Mausoleum with Father Paul LaFleur Celebrant.

Daniel, known by most as D.I., was a pioneer in the pond crawfishing industry. He built a legacy known as D.I.'s Cajun Restaurant which serves as a tribute to the Cajun Culture of South Louisiana. He was passionate about cooking and serving his customers the finest food and hospitality available. Daniel loved working and spending time with his family. He will be remembered to those who knew him as generous, determined, dependable, courageous and possessing an overwhelming attention to detail and perfection.

He will be lovingly remembered by his loving wife of fifty six years, Sherry Cart Fruge of Tee Mamou; his children, Michelle F. Brown and husband, Greg of Eunice, Shannon F. Simar and husband, Edwin of Evangeline, Troy Fruge of Tee Mamou, and Cory F. Fruge and wife, Amanda of Iota; his two brothers, Clayton Fruge and Roonie Fruge, both of Tee Mamou; fourteen grandchildren, Anya B. Thibodeaux and husband, Eric, Megan E. Brown, Briggs A. Brown, Christopher I. Simar, Michael L. Simar, John L. Simar, David A. Simar, Sarah E. Simar, Kynlee Rae Fruge, Brittany P. Hebert, Corinne E. Fruge, Caitlin E. Fruge, Cory F. Fruge, Jr., and Courtney L. Fruge; five great grandchildren, Kye Lege, Roury Thibodeaux, Iris Thibodeaux, Aubree Simar and Adilynn Simar; as well as extended family and friends.

Daniel rests in Heaven with his beloved parents, Isaac and Enola LeJeune Fruge; grandchildren, Brenton Brown and Montanna Fruge; siblings, Betty Pousson, Norman Lee Fruge, Albert ''Chunkie'' Fruge, Robert Fruge, and Gerald Fruge.

At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoin's Funeral Home in Eunice on Friday, September 23rd from 10:00 am until 10:00 pm, and again on Saturday, September 24th from 8:00 am until time of services. The Knights of Columbus will recite a rosary at 7:00 pm Friday evening.

The pallbearers who have the honor of carrying D.I. to his final resting place include Christopher, Michael, John and David Simar, Briggs and Greg Brown. Honorary pallbearers include, Edwin Simar, Cory Jr. and Kye Lege.
