Rita M. McMahon Casey, 91, of Norwell died Saturday, August 8, 2009 in the Coyne Health Care Facility after a long illness. She was born in Cambridge on March 19, 1918, the daughter of the late William and Sadie Wilson Mahon. She was raised and educated in Cambridge and was a 1939 graduate of Rindge and Latin School. Mrs. Casey was formerly employed as a cook at the Winchester Hospital. She lived in Woburn for 36 years and Hanover for 10 years, moving to Norwell in 1993. She was a published poet. Wife of the late Joseph T. Casey, Sr., she is survived by 1 son, Atty. Joseph T. Casey, Jr. and his wife Atty. Constance Pierce of Arlington, VA, 1 daughter, Rita C. Silvia and her husband Paul of Hanover and 3 grandchildren, Allyson Casey, Sean Casey and Elizabeth Casey. She was the sister of the late Margaret Heiser. The Funeral Mass will be on Wednesday at 11 AM in St. Joseph Church, 100 Washington St., Woburn. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery in Woburn. Visiting hours Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. in the Sullivan Funeral Home, 551 Washington St., Rte. 53 HANOVER. Memorial contributions may be made to the Activities Department at Coyne Health Care Center, 56 Webster St., Rockland, MA 02370.
