William Harley Hasting, son of William and Jennie Hasting, was born near Medora, Iowa, Sept. 14, 1891, and died June 12, 1968, at the age of 76 years, 8 months and 28 days, at Iowa Methodist Hospital, Des Moines. He lived his entire life in Warren county. He was a blacksmith by trade and did various other work in the vicinity of New Virginia. On Jan. 17, 1912, he was united in marriage to Lula Weaver. One daughter, Everill Hasting Hemphill, was born to this union Both are deceased.

As a young man, he was a member of the Methodist Church at Medora, later transferring his membership to the Methodist Church at New Virginia, where he served as elder for some time. He also was mayor several years.

He is survived by two sisters, Etha Williams of Adel, IA, and Iva Adams of Indianola; three nieces, Arlene Allsup of Avon Lake, Geraldine Burchett of New Virginia, and Marie Findley of Pasadena, TX, other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services were conducted from the New Virginia Methodist Church June 14.
