Steve Higle, 17 drowned in Kanopolis Lake,Steve swam out to some beach ropes on the south shore beach area at the lake. When he and his friend Jerry P. started to swim back to shore Steven, went under water.
Jerry, tried to pull him up but was unable to do so. He yelled for help but was ignored by swimmers in the area, Jerry then swam to shore and notified a lifeguard who discovered Steve's body after a 26 minute search,
The funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Ryan Mortuary Burial will be at the Gypsum Hill cemetery. He was a resident of Salina Kansas for 7 years and attended Central High School.

Survivors include his mother, Rose M. Broomfield, 2 brothers Marty and Brendan. Grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. R.A. Williams Scandia
