Kay Gwen Deverall Smith (1939-2016)

Draper, Utah. Kay passed away on September 23, 2016 after a long illness.

She was born February 11, 1939 in Salt Lake City to Lester and Florence Deverall. She grew up in Taylorsville and was the oldest of three girls. She married Nolan Smith in 1957. Together they had three sons and spent most of their married life in Draper.

Kay lived a life in service to others. She was a relief society president for the LDS Church and was a PTA president for Jordan School District. She taught Sunday school at the Draper 2nd Ward Church and was a Cub Scout Den Mother. She was always willing to volunteer her time and her artistic talents to her community. She will be most remembered for her decades of work at Draper Elementary as a Resource Center Aide. She loved working with special needs children to help them overcome their learning disabilities.

Kay is preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Florence Deverall. She is survived by her husband, Nolan, their three sons, Steven (Kim), Randy, and Kevin and her sisters Lynn (David) Getz and Dorothy (Richard) Petersen. She also leaves behind 3 grandsons (Greg, Jason, and Ryan), and 3 great grandchildren (Nicole, Logan, Raegan).

Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 29 at 11 A.M. at Broomhead Funeral Home, 12600 S. 2200 W., Riverton, UT. A viewing will be held Wednesday evening from 6-8 P.M. at the same location and one hour prior to services. Interment at Draper City Cemetery.
